artist statement

The Nocturnal Series explores the tension between urban environments and the fading presence of nature within them. Inspired by Western cities and their architectural landscapes, the paintings reflect on the visual language of skyscrapers, grids, and built structures alongside more fluid, gestural elements that suggest organic movement.
I approach the city as both a physical space and a sensory one — a place where order and fragmentation exist simultaneously. Within these compositions, traces of the natural world appear as subtle interruptions, hinting at what persists within highly constructed environments.
Through layered surfaces, strong contrasts, and a vivid yet restrained palette, the works create a nocturnal atmosphere. Darkness conveys the weight and material presence of the built environment, while yellow and white emerge as moments of light — quiet references to the sun and to natural rhythms moving across the city.
